Brian Benson brings an incredible array of life experiences and professional qualifications to his teaching craft. He credits his journey (the experiences, people, and opportunities) with his ability to make learning fun!

In 1997 Brian flew to Costa Rica for a surf trip and wound up spending the next 15 years in the small Central American country known for its humble people, relaxed vibe, rich biodiversity, and of course, waves. Brian worked in the Education Travel Industry first as an outdoor educator and guide and later as the manager of a premier educational tourism company. He has organized school-based trips across Latin American countries (90% in Costa Rica), as well as in Northern California, providing experiential rich and curriculum embedded adventures.

Moving from educational tourism to the classroom was a natural transition for Brian when he moved back to the states and spent the following four years as a high school Spanish Teacher for a private school in San Francisco. His teaching style and creative approach resonated with his students and fostered trusting relationships and a culture of curiosity in the classroom.

I like his sense of humor and the fun ways he connects with me during online tutoring sessions. He makes sure I understand concepts I may struggle with and clearly explains them to me in detail. Mr. Benson is a great teacher, amazing mentor and good friend.
